GPA high enough?

Published

I was wondering if my GPA will even be high enough to get me into the ADN program. I have one last course (Algebra... crap!) and if I get an A, I'll have a 3.4 GPA. For me, this is a great accomplishment, since I was raising two children and taking care of my ailing parent-in-laws F/T (both 24 hr. jobs), but I'm really nervous that it's just not going to be good enough. Should I concider getting my EMT-P or LPN while I'm waiting to hear about my admittance? The problem here is that these courses would overlap. My other option would be to get an AAS and apply to the University for the BSN program. Ugh. Really wish things could just be simple for once.

Any thoughts?

i applied for sjsu fall 08 w/ a 3.45gpa for pre reqs and 3.4gpa cumulative and still didnt get in. they said lowest gpa accepted was 3.5 and avg was 3.7. those min. gpa posted aren't very reliable.

What about your score on the TEAS?

i got an 89%. one of my friends got in with a tad bit higher gpa and teas score of 96.

That's kinda sad that the nursing school won't be upfront about the minimum standards for acceptance. I talked to someone there last week and was told that you need a 3.0 GPA and score of 80 on the TEAS. Clearly that's not the case.

Their website still says minimum GPA is 2.75.

yeah. the sad news is the minimum standards are climbing fast every semester. last fall the min. gpa was 3.29. I was thinking about staying at state and raise my last 30units gpa to a 4.0 but I'm thinking about going to mission college and take the lvn program and bridge to RN later. I just hope its not impacted

It's pretty much based on number of applicants. There's 60 slots in the nursing program and several hundred applicants every term. Next year the minimum GPA could be 4.0 for all I know.

I'm currently doing pre-reqs at Mission College by the way. If you only need the associates degree then you could try De Anza also
