is a 3.5 gpa good for bsn program in WA state?

Hello, I will be finishing up my pre associates in nursing by the end of august:lol2:! I'm taking a year off to get my cna and get experience. So... for next year when I apply to bsn programs do you think a 3.5 cumulative will be good enough!? I've gotten pretty good grades the thing is, my first year I kinda slacked off and got mostly B's like 3.0's but then my second year, I got 6 4.0's and counting! What was your gpa to get into a BSN program? If anyone out there has gone to UW, WSU, SU, SPU, or PLU's nursing program what was your gpa? Thanks so much any input would be greatly appreciated, even if you aren't from washington.;) Mucho Gacias!

sounds excellent to me, but how competitive is it and what was the lowest GPA accepted last semester?

A 3.5 is pretty good depending on when you plan to enroll in the BSN program. If you try to start in the fall, expect it to be way more competitive. I graduated from WSU, they only accept 90-120 students per semester and if I had applied for the fall I would have been competing with about 450+ other pre-nursing students. Spring semester there were about 200 hopefuls and so there was a little less focus on the super high GPA. The required GPA for WSU is only a 2.8 but I never heard of anyone being accepted with less than a 3.2. I had a 3.5 and got into the program's spring start without a problem. Can't speak for the other programs, but that was a pretty common trend while I was there.

many schools provide open source on how they grade applicants and what the recent score has been.. so you can plug in your individual grades within their scoring method to see if you are competitive.. its often based on specific courses rather then your overall gpa.. or a combination of both. Other factors are out there.. like WSU takes majority of applicant slots to only those within their consortium of undergrad schools and if you are outside that you are competing for a small number of slots- you can talk to admin staff there, they told me this over the phone.. UW's info is on their website and audio intro...
