GPA to get into Nursing

Published

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering what the cut off's are to get in for the BScN at UOIT or any university in the GTA. I will be a Pre-Health student this Sept at Durham College (They call it Health Preperation) and have been hearing that last year the cut off for Pratical Nursing there was 92%. I want to apply for BScN but don't know anyone who is in that program so I am only going off of any info I get get.

Does anyone know any info at all? I am quite nervous that my marks won't be good enough to get in since any nursing program is really competitive. I never took Chem or Bio in highschool that's what makes me super nervous.

Thanks!

Call the schools you are interested in applying to and ask them what's the ideal grade to get into their PN program. Study smart and do your best. Create a plan for when to study, etc. A little nervousness is good to push you to work hard. It's not easy but it will pay off at the end.

I've been trying to reach someone and even emailed but to no avail. I will keep trying tho. Thanks for the advice, I will def try my hardest and give it my all :-)

I go into U of T and my GPA coming into the program was 3.53 (B+/A-). My transcript included an F and few Cs as well. To apply to this school however, you need to already have a bachelors because it's an accelerated program.

I think schools look a lot at your experience (life experience/volunteer/work) and the short essay questions you usually have to write to apply to the program. Grades are definitely important, but you certainly do not need a 4.00 average to get into a nursing program. I recommend working or volunteering at a hospital or long term care facility, getting involved with your school, and maintaining decent marks. Hope this helps!
