[color=#333333]governor ritter established the task force by executive order on march 29, 2007 and charged it with developing standards and processes for the measurement and disclosure of nurses' contribution to the quality of patient care in licensed health care facilities. the task force also will evaluate the environment of nursing practice in colorado and study a quality measurement process for nursing. nineteen members comprise the task force, 12 of whom are voting members. task force members have been appointed by groups representing the hospital field, physicians, nurses, labor unions, and government. regular meetings will be held, and the task force is required to report to the colorado general assembly and the governor's office by dec. 31, 2007.

the first meeting of the task force was held last friday.

this may be the most input nursing has ever had into how nursing care is delivered in this state. i'll be curious to see what recommendations they make to the state legislators and the governor.
