Air Force Reserve ?'s

I have been a RN for ten years and will be finsishing my BSN in December. I am seriously thinking about joining the Air Force Reserve but have some questions. I plan on talking to a recruiter this week but would like to hear what some of you have to say....

-What rank would a BSN, RN with ten years enter in at with no military experience?

-Are there programs for student loan payoffs or for continuing.

-I plan on going for my MSN/FNP- is there a need for FNP in the Air Force?

-At present I would prefer not be put on active duty and deployed- my kids are 10 and 12. Is this a realistic expecatation considering all of the deployments lately?

-If deployed would it be Stateside or overseas?

-Are there any bonuses to join at present?

Again, I am going to be talking to a recruiter but from reading these boards it sounds like they make it sound pretty rosey so I want to hear from you all how it really is.

Thanks,

Ann

All branches of Service deploy. There is no promise that it will not be overseas.

They are not looking for FNP's to join directly. The military makes their own. This is an incentive for nurses that are in the military.

The army is the only service with $50,000 loan repayment for reserves

They all have a $15,000 sign on bonus.

Your rank is determined by a higher authority than your recruiter. He or she will have to submit your CV and transcripts for eval.

Make sure you talk to an AF and Navy and Army Healthcare Recruiter to see which brach fits you best.
