Hi, I am writing because I am having some trouble finding a CNA job. I had an interview last Monday (a week ago) and the HR lady gave me a job of working part time every other weekend (and filling in). Having so much trouble finding a CNA job I figured that it could be a way to get my foot in the door somewhere! She had me go do a drug test and said that she would call me to let me finish signing the new hire papers. Well I had not heard so that Tuesday I called back to see if there was a dress code so I could purchase scrubs. She was very short and I asked if she knew when I would start orientation and she said possibly early next week (this week) and that she would call me. Well its Monday and I still haven't heard a thing, I'm starting to wonder if she changed her mind or what. So I didn't know if I should put my current notice in (retail job) but I put it in today so I wouldn't have 2 jobs clashing at the same time. Should I keep waiting for her to call back or call the facility again? Last time she was so cold and short I don't want to get on anyone's bad side!
I also had a phone interview on Friday for another facility (I was busy when they called so she set up a phone interview for an hour and a half later, but I never got a call! When I called 15 minutes later to check if they were still going to call they were very short and said "yeah that's right". So I basically blew my chance at that job! Its Monday and I never heard a peep after she scheduled the phone time.
Is it really this hard to get a job as a CNA? I cannot believe how unprofessional HR can be. Any advice would be appreciated, I now put my notice in for the first job on weekends and haven't heard a peep to know if it was for real!

You need to call and verify, one way or the other, HR person with short fuse or not. Next time, never give notice at a job until you are certain of the replacement job. And this shortness and lack of civility may be a sign of prevailing attitudes at these places, or it may be a sign of the professionalism, or lack thereof, of the individual you were dealing with. Don't let this prevent you from pursuing your goal of employment.
