Hello, I just got accepted to the Navy Nurse Candidate Program. I am currently in nursing school getting my BSN. I am in my second semester and I graduate December 2011. I have a year to train and get into gear physically so I need tips on how to prepare for ODS after graduation. Any tips on how to prepare for ODS? What should I expect about ODS?

Not sure if I can post links but this page has lots of tips for ODS: http://navyhpsp.net/wiki/ODS_Tips

I haven't been there yet myself but I'm hoping to go soon :)

I have yet to go either. Hoping to go for the March class. I am/have been working out by doing kickboxing mostly. I go to an MMA gym so our teachers combine actual technique with cardio and isometric exercises. Also, if you aren't a super strong swimmer get into a pool and work on it. I have read in more than one place the swim test is the one that keeps people from graduating more than anything. Otherwise, work on the run, pushups, and situps.

Congrats! I am currently applying to the NCP program myself. Do any of you have any tips on writing the motivation statement? I heard that they prefer more what you can do for the navy, not what draws you to the navy. Am I wrong?
