I just found out that I got accepted to AACC's NS! I am SO excited! I wanted to post here because I wanted to get to know other ladies/gentlemen out there that will part of my class! We could meet up at the Orientation next week!! :) Congratulations to all out there who got acceptance! YAY...first step toward our dream!
For all of you who just got accepted. Congrat's!
The Palm Store usually has specials on the web site. If you're planning on getting a Palm, look there. I got mine during a "spend $300, get $100 off" special.
Also- my favorite web site for books is www.betterworldbooks.com Absolutely consider used text books, even previous editions. I bought earlier editions if they were less than $5 (many were) and had free shipping. It was a gamble, but I figured if I got into it and needed the more recent text, I could go to the bookstore and get it. Honestly, I haven't had to go buy a newer version yet. Check it out!
Good luck! Study hard! Go to class! You'll do great.
Hi Sienna,
Do you know if you can use an ipod touch or do you need an actual Palm for the software?
I have Verizon and am eligible for a upgraded phone, but I was told you can't use a phone on patient floors so I am not sure if I should upgrade to a Palm-like phone or an iphone if I can't use it.
Thanks!
You can double check at orientation. I have classmates who have used the iPhone and Blackberry. Only trouble is some of the software doesn't translate the same and you're left to figure it out. Go to the SkyScape web site and peruse their compatibility FAQ's. You will be ask to get the Skyscape Nursing Constellation package. I also picked up some added features, i.e Tabors medical encyclopedia, and a couple NCLEX review programs. I LOVE those for killing time and just reviewing questions. Worth it. However, you can do the same with a book.
I also heard that you were not permitted to have the phone (more so the camera) in the hospital but everyone has taken theirs, LOTS of people have it on their phone. I think the Palm is more user friendly and it is designed for this work...however, it is another thing to carry if you normally carry your phone.
Sienna,
Thanks for the info, I will take a look at the Skyscape website. If you don't mind, I have another question for you that I can't seem to find an answer for.
Are nursing students required to have health insurance or purchase a certain plan? I know I should have it, but my current plan will lapse during the program and I might not be able to afford the COBRA payments. I am too old to be on my parents plan so that isn't an option. I know that when I got my first degree we had to have a certain level of coverage to be students at the school, but we were able to pay the fees with student loans since it was required.
Thanks again!

I know I haven't heard anything yet either, I think the "Got AACC acceptance today!" was from earlier posts. My mailman probably thinks I am stalking him...
