Nurses Safety

Published

After 15 years I moved to a new town because I am getting married. I guess I was spoiled because at my last job the staff worked well together, communicated, and held monthly "Team Building meetings" hence the reason I stayed so long. Now I

am in a new job where the staff can be verbally cruel to each other and the patients. They gossip terribly and each day I come home with my stomach in knots or have a headache. My patients come to me sometimes in tears, I am new and they are reaching out for help. I have a meeting set up with one staff member in the morning. I don't have good vibes on this, but I feel it may make a difference. Its sad to see nurses treat each other like in some of the discussions I just read. It really is an eye opener. I love being a nurse but hate the politics involved. Is there anyone out there that can assist?

Was just reading a thread yesterday that related to this... and someone posted a response about "not being able to change a culture". Some facilities just have that "culture" and it is impossible to fight it. The best thing is to move on ...to higher ground ... you might check that thread from yesterday... had some sound advice... trying to remember the name of the thread... I'll get back here with the title when I find it...

Wish you well with the meeting... sure have nothing to lose. ;)

ok.... found the thread... might be worth reading ... hope you find some comfort and support in it:

Thread is titled "Unhappy Nurse" by "nurse Unhappy" and is on the fourth or fifth page of "todays active threads".

Hope it helps. :kiss
