Good study guides for HESI A2

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, All - I am new here and am taking my nursing prereqs for a BSN program (2nd bachelor's). I'm taking the HESI A2 soon and am wondering what are some good books to study for the science parts. I am going to use my A&P books for biology and A&P (of course!) but what about chemistry?

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I'd appreciate all help and advice!

That's the book I used and got over 90% on all the subjects. :] I studied for about a month. Good luck.

I have this book and people said it didn't help on the vocab part. I thought the test in the back seemed pretty good, but I haven't taken the test yet so I'm not completely sure.

The vocab part is pretty hard to study for. So many words they could ask.. maybe try reading some medical articles, or watching some medical based tv shows. All my friends who have taken the Hesi all got way different questions on the test, some in the guide but most not.

That is the book I have been using to study as well. I haven't found the vocabulary section to be very helpful either. It's as if the words are too common and I already know their meaning. I read reviews that this book wasn't very helpful but it is nice to hear you got 90% on all the sections. I am terrible at test taking so I am extremely nervous! I have to take the HESI and NLN exams. Was there a large amount of science on the exam? I only have to take 4 out of the 9 sections: Math, reading comp, vocab and grammar. Did you have to take the entire exam?

Thanks!!!!

Yeah - I had to take all the test. It was very hard, about 50 questions in Chemistry, like.. 35 in Biology, and another 50 in Anatomy and Physio. I had thought it was going to be 50 questions mixed science, but it was 3 different sections. The math is REALLY easy, you can even use a calculator. I would really make sure you know your spelling and grammer though - they pulled some punches in those sections. In all honesty, if you're doing good in the vocab guide you'll be fine, it was pretty basic.
