good problem

wow. I've been looking for a new job (RN) - and first the only place that got back to me was one that was very similar to the one I left, but more established, and supposedly better training, but still LTC and rehab. I was excited though because I need the job and sooner rather than later.

I verbally accepted over the phone on a Friday - but then starting Monday morning bright and early - all the hospitals I had been applying to and getting "sorry" letters from started calling me! I've been on one interview, have another tomorrow, and trying to set up two more. BUT, I start TRAINING for the first job on MONDAY now. I have not been offered a position at any of them yet of course - but I'm out of room for interviews for one of them (major hospital organization with multiple locations they want to have me go interview and shadow for) - but I only have one day I can do it in before I start training at the first job.

I was hoping to know for sure if I would really be offered a position at one of the hospitals before I started training -because I don't want to start a job and then have to tell them I'm going somewhere else - I'd hate that.

Unfortunately I'm at the bottom of my savings - scraping by and need to start working soon. I know I won't get paid for a couple weeks after I start so. .

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH At this point it really looks like I'm going to have to start the one job, and wait and see if I get offered a hospital position - which is what I really want. It's going to look bad though . . wish I had more time/money.

Any thoughts?

uggghhh - okay so the bird I have in the hand - not LTC like I thought - rehab though - but more hospital like - lots of similarities to LTC though - like always worrying about state surveys! blagh!

The job I have is 1 - closer to home 2- pays a little more - not much 3 - just now told me they were giving me a sign on bonus - pretty good one. 4 - nice people 5- night shift

on the negative side - 1 - I won't gain as much experience as I would as a new nurse in a regular hospital 2 - won't have as many opportunities to move into other areas, or move up 3-not much training - only train you on what they think you will need right now - not an overall training. most of it is on THEIR company rules, policies, etc. Not on skills. 4- night shift

the other offers are close to it, but 1. - $1 less an hour - $1.50 less, but 2- lots of traffic/ farther away (more gas, longer drive). one is day shift. 3- very little parking - downtown location - winter will be a pain. 4 - larger hospitals

positive side - 1- more training/experience as a new nurse 2- if I get tired of what I start out doing - I can move to another department, and constantly have doors open to new areas as I gain experience because they are larger. 3-always somebody to take your place from somewhere -so if people start quitting etc - or call off - there's always someone somewhere

I've already started - day 2 of training at this one - don't want to burn bridges -but its early enough in the game I could switch I think without ticking anybody off. just not sure what to do here.. . if only I could see the future!
