Hello everyone! I start nursing school in August and will need specific shoes. The criteria for the shoes we need are they must be white, non-mesh, and have a back. I have high arches too. I want something that will be comfortable and will be able to rush around my clinical sites in without having my feet grip the shoes. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks! :)

Hi, OP! I'm also a student headed into clinicals in the fall. :)
I know everyone will give you recommendations on what works best for them, but I just wanted to encourage you to find a reputable running store in your area and have them do an assessment of your feet and your walking/running style. They can have you walk around or run on a treadmill for just a few moments and basically watch to see your pronation and can make suggestions (even if it isn't a shoe that they carry) for something that would be comfortable based on their observations of your pronation and arches.
I wore Nikes to work for years "just because" and once I was actually fitted for appropriate shoes, (neutral pronation, very high arches), it has made ALL the difference. I can walk/run around on 16 hour shifts with no foot pain or discomfort now. (I wear a neutral New Balance for work but am looking for something with no mesh for clinicals, as well.)
(P.S. I heard "Danskos" from nearly everyone I talked to and am still mulling over whether or not I want to shell out the $130 or so for them... I have Herrington rods from scoliosis surgery 10 years ago so shoes are hit or miss and that's a lot to spend to potentially hate them. Haha) Good luck in your search!!!
I've heard danskos are the best too. My mom is also a nursing and she has a bunch of them. The only reason I'm hesitant about buying them is because I want to be able to run/walk very, very quickly in them.

I invested in Alegria Keli Professional Shoes. I did see them in white and these have a back. I also have high arches and when I tried on danskos, the top was to rigid and hurt the top of my foot. The Alegria is comfortable and has a little elastic on the top to stretch for high arches.
The white version of this shoe is on sale right now on their website. $50 off normal price! Hope this helps!

The BEST are the ones that work for YOU!
Seriously, you have to figure this out on your own because everyone has such different issues. For years, I swore by Birkenstock and couldn't have worked at the bedside without them. Then one of my arches collapsed and I could no longer wear ANY Birkenstock. That's when I discovered Dansko and now I swear that I couldn't be a nurse without Dansko.
Unfortunately, all of the top contenders are expensive. Go to a reputable shoe store (Walking Company, for instance) and get a recommendation, based upon their evaluation of your feet.
This may help. Thanks
