Good job for nursing student

U.S.A. Massachusetts

I am currently finishing up my two last sciences at BHCC and will be starting clinicals in the Spring semester at UMass Boston, I am already accepted. I currently work during the day and am taking my science classes in the evening. But this will all change come this Spring semester. What positions should I look for at a hospital that would be flexible enough for me to be in nursing school and make some decent cash to support myself, what are the pay rates? I currently reside in Cambridge, what hospitals in my area are the best to work for? I am sure a lot of you had to balance nursing school and work. I have experience as an office manager and already have my first bachelor degree in theatre arts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!:nurse:

hmm, I would say CNA ( if your certified) or work as an ER Tech. You could also maybe do something like patient transport.

I would get your foot in the door though, the job market for all nurses is tough, worse for new grads. At least if you have your foot in teh door you will have a chance getting hired when you graduate!

Good luck!

I'm at UMass Boston too! You DONT have to be certified to work as a nursing assistant. After one semester of clinical, UMass will write a letter documenting the fact that you're a nursing student. But most hospitals take your word without the letter! You do need the clinical experience, or you can take the Red Cross CN course (don'r recommend).
