Good Enough? Please Help

Published

Hello everyone, I received my A.A in nursing a couple months ago and I applied to TROY, UF, FSU, UNF, UCF, WRIGHT STATE UNIVERITY, UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-RENO, and UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE.

Now my overall GPA is 3.46 and pre-reqs is slightly higher no more than 3.5.

What are my chances for these schools if you know?

Thanks!

I can't really tell you because I don't know what classes you have or what your entrance exam scores are and so on. More info?

Ok, I only need the entrance exams for 2 schools (UCF & UNF). Which I didnt do so well in my opinion 74% on the TEAS EXAM.

As for my classes, I have all my pre-reqs and Gen Ed. Thats is why I have an A.A., to be exact 74 credits.

A&P 1 & 2

CHM

NUTRITION

HUMAN DEV

SOCIOLOGY

PYCHOLOGY

MICROBIO

Thats what I can remember from the top of my head.

it usually depends on the group of applicants but you should check about the pre-reqs because there are a bunch of really dumb UNR-specific classes that you may need first. UNLV is another choice in nevada or NSC or CSN....CSN is the cheapest and its second only to UNLV imo....and all these schools would put you in wonderful Las Vegas as well :)

Im still waiting for these schools......ughhhh

You are probably right on the line for Wright State. I've heard that most applicants above a 3.5 usually make it in, but some years it has been higher more like 3.7. Just depends on the competition at the time you are trying to enter.

Just an FYI on Wright State admissions. They are changing their admissions requirements for their BSN program; I just talked to an admissions counselor a few weeks ago. They used to just take the best GPAs until the class was full. Now they are going to base it on your GPA in 5 classes (English Composition, Intro Psych, Organic Chem, Biology, and Intro Sociology) and your score on the HESI-A2 entrance exam. I'm not sure when exactly this change is taking place, but at least as early as the Spring 2012 admissions.

So depending on your grades in those 5 classes, if you didn't get accepted into Wright State this time around, perhaps you might have a better chance once they change their admissions?

Good luck to you! I'm planning on applying to Wright State for Fall 2012.

Wow thats the first time I heard of that. Well I have A's in those classes so thats even better for me. However, I havent seen on their Nursing application anything about the HESI, in fact I'm already done with their application. The Fall 2011 deadline is on June 30th so I wont be applying to the Fall 2012. Either ways I will find out about the new changes, hopefully they dont apply to me because I'm tired of applications and processes ugh!

Thanks for your help!

Oops, typo in my earlier post, I meant the changes will start at least by Spring 2012 admissions, not 2011.

Yeah, I don't think the new changes apply to you. I was told for Spring 2012 admissions they will be using the new admissions process, so if you are applying now, you are still under the old admissions process where they base it just on overall GPA. Good luck!

How do you have an AA in nursing? First off, nursing is a science field. You probably mean you have an AS in pre-nursing?

No, it is an Associates of Arts. iN PRE NURSING. Obviosuly nursing is a science field but with an associates in ARTS you can choose anything you want. I wanted pre nursing in order to transfer to a bsn program. I couldve selected pre med, business, pre dentistry, etc.. Its weird I know, but thats what it is. lol
