I will be starting the ABSN program at UNC in January. Long story short, I have no prior nursing experience and am getting anxious about how in-depth and intense the program material will be! So, I want to hunt down some study material to at least get me past the "basics" of nursing.
I was going to get my CNA as a sort of intro to what I'll be learning, but that isn't likely to happen for a few reasons. Any books or websites that might help me understand basic hands-on procedures, a&p from a nurse's perspective, or pharmacology, etc. would be great! Thanks so much!! I want to do well, and for me, that means getting a head start.

Hmm...your best bet would be to find out what textbooks they will be using for the first semester and start reading those!

I agree with pitaya. I will be starting the second semester of my ABSN program in 2 weeks. I've already bought the books and will be reading through. I don't know if your first degree was Science, but if not and one of your classes is Patho, I would start looking through that book and make sure you're confident with A&P.
Good luck in your first semester. I was overwhelmed, but thankfully made it. It's doable.
Thanks to you both! Good advice... I was afraid that the nursing schools would have strict requirements about their books (since I know other admin protocol can change with schools), but if it's the same book, then hey! :) Good luck to you both!
