I was admitted for Gonzaga’s Fall 2020 online FNP program. I wanted to start this thread to try to connect with other students. Anyone else starting this fall at Gonzaga?

Good Evening DlsyRN4453-

CONGRATS! I have also been accepted in to the MSN-FNP program at Gonzaga for the Fall 2020 start date. I haven't committed 100% as I also got accepted at Baylor University for their FNP-DNP program. I'm very torn and know that I need to decide this week. Do you live near Gonzaga? Have you spoken with any Gonzaga graduates? I look forward to hearing back from you.

CONGRATS on getting accepted to both programs! I have not talked to graduates, but I talked to another student who is about a year into the program. She works at the same hospital as me. She loves it, and had nothing but great things to say. I’m already registered and getting prepped for the journey ahead. I live in the Pacific Northwest, but not extremely close to the school. It does have a great reputation where I’m from, and is considered a prestigious school to go. It’s definitely the top choice for most FNP hopefuls in the area in which I live, so I couldn’t be happier! I had considered a DNP as well, but I figure I’d rather just take one step and major commitment at a time. There are so many post-master’s DNP certificate programs, that I feel confident in obtaining that if it becomes required. I’m excited!! Let me know what you decide to do!

Good Morning =]

I am about 5.5 hours from Gonzaga; I live near Portland, OR. I've also heard good things about Gonzaga, just hesitant about making the right decision. I have 2 young daughters (12 and 6) and want to make sure to make the best choice for the whole family. I'll definitely let you know my final decision.....gotta decide by this week. Eeeekkkk! Take Care!

I’m about 6.5 hours from the school and in Oregon! I also have a child, so I totally understand how this decision will impact your whole family. Good luck with your decision! I don’t know much about the other school you mentioned. Gonzaga has a reputation around here for being an excellent school, which made the choice easier to make for me. Plus, a lot of people from my hospital have specifically applied to Gonzaga with the aspirations of going there. It is a tough choice though for what’s right for your specific situation. Either way, CONGRATS on being in this position of being accepted to both! Good luck!

Hello! I was also accepted into the MSN-FNP program at Gonzaga, Fall start date. I tried to find any threads, and this is the first one I have come across. Does anyone have info on how the program is overall? I live in Montana and very excited to start!

CONGRATS! I will be starting in the Fall as well! I live in Spokane and am only about 15-20 minutes from campus. I have a friend who is a year ahead of me and is doing the DNP program. She is really enjoying it.

Hi Jreynad and mikeandmeg2003! CONGRATS to both of you. I’ve heard great things about the program. I have a coworker a year ahead of me as well, and she has received straight As so far. She works part time at the hospital. I’m going to continue working full time for the entire program, if possible. It looks like the first 8 months or so are mainly MSN core classes, and then patho starts, followed by pharm, then all the NP classes. I think the first 9 months to a year will be more of the fluff classes, and then things will probably begin to be getting much more difficult, especially with time restraints (clinicals, work, etc.). I’m nervous, but I’m also excited!! I did find a facebook group for Gonzaga FNP students that has some helpful information too. CONGRATS everyone

Hey!

I recently applied for the Fall 2021 start date of the DNP program at Gonzaga and am just wondering how long it took to find out if you were admitted to the program? I know that UW accepts applications until January and you typically hear back by April. Just curious if it is a similar wait time for a response from Gonzaga. TIA

Nursey777 - It took about 6 weeks after the deadline for application for me to hear that I was accepted into the MSN - FNP program. I am not sure if it's any different for the DNP program. And if they do accept you, you'll get a phone call. Good luck!

Thank you for the speedy reply! Congratulations on your acceptance! I am hopeful to get a response in the coming weeks.
