Gonzaga Interview!!!

Hi all!! I've been following this board closely for several months since I started pursuing my second job (applying to CRNA school) and have just received word of my 1st interview. So far I have applied to Gonzaga and Samuel Merritt (trying to stay on west coast since I live in Idaho but am realistic about chances). I have worked in ICU & CVICU for almost 7 years, finishing up my BSN this May, nursing class GPA 3.8 overall (prior BS in MIS) 3.2, mediocre GRE (1160), CCRN, TNCC. I guess I'm just so excited that I got an interview since I had to write a petition letter with my app to be considered because my BSN won't be done until May. I think Brenna's Dad is the only Gonzaga alum on the board and I was wondering if anyone else has interviewed there and what to expect. I did visit the school and shadowed one of their senior students in the OR and met John (I think he is an assistant director of the program) briefly. Any suggestions on what to expect from Gonzaga???? By the way, I thought it was a great school and program. The student was VERY gung ho about the program as well. Nice to finally put my 2 cents in-hope to be more active on the boards now that I feel I have something to input!

Congratulations on your interview and welcome to the board! I can't tell you much about the school, but a friend that is now a senior at Gonzaga speaks very highly of the program. Good luck.

There are several things that are very positive for Gonzaga: (1) small classes, (2) emphasis on regional anesthesia, (3) no competition for cases with MD anesthesia residents, (4)very strong CRNA community with everyone interested in students; (5) strong academic program. (6) stronger clinical program.

I would hire a Gonzaga grad in a heartbeat.

Presently a junior student. All that yoga says is true. Plus, the cost of living in Spokane is dirt cheap (especially compared to SanFran).

Congratulations on your interview at Gonzaga!!! I have an interview there too on March 2. Were are you located in Idaho? I live in Lewiston, Idaho. I applied to 4 schools; Gonzaga, Newman University, University of North Dakota, and Mt. Marty College. I got 4 interviews and was accepted to Newman (just found out 2 days ago). I didn't go to the Mt. Marty interview (since it was today) as it was my last choice.

I shadowed a senior student at Gonzaga too and found much of the same information. Three one half hour interviews (one rumored to be a mega code) with the usual ethical/clinical questions.

When do you hear from Samuel Merritt?

I'm in Boise at St. Als. My inteview is at 07:30 am Tues morning-I plan to have lots of coffee and be up early because I am not a morning person!!! The student I followed implied to know your ACLS really well plus any gtts you regularly used. He did say in the interview he was sort of interogated to see how he could handle the stressful situation. What I really like about Spokane is how similar it is to Boise-it would make adapting to moving a breeze!

I also got the impression that they might put a little pressure on you in part of the interview. I also remember the student I followed saying that any answer you give (i.e. for a drug question) will likely be the part of the next question they will ask you. So, you should know the dose, how it works, receptor sites, etc.

I too am not a morning person, however, luckily my interview is at 1430. I will likely meet you at the orientation the day prior at o'dark thirty!
