Hello All,

Anyone know what type of co-enrollment ADN-BSN programs GWC offers? How long does it usually take for you to get your BSN after ADN? What is the fastest way possible for you to get your BSN from your ADN?

any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks ?

Hi there! Maybe I can help. Unfortunately, GWC doesn't necessarily have a specific partnership with any ADN-BSN program to simultaneously take BSN courses during your ADN program like Riverside City College does with CSUF and CSUSB. But to my knowledge schools such as CSULB, CSUF (Fullerton, not Fresno) and CSUDH offer some classes you can take in the Summer to get a head start on your BSN classes. But beware that you will have to pay out of pocket for these courses and financial aid doesn't typically cover Summer classes as you will be a student through open university and not an official CSU student. At CSULB it's called the ADN-BSN Summer Step Up Bridge Program, at CSUF it's called Jump Start Program, and at CSUDH it's called Summer Fast Track Program. Look at the each school's website for more detailed information about the program. A side note, you can earn a Public Health Nurse certificate if you enroll at a CSU RN-BSN program and complete the required 90 clinical hours at a public health setting. On average it can take you about a year to complete a RN-BSN program depending on the school and how many classes you take each semester. One school in particular called Capella University allows you to complete your RN-BSN online as quick as 3 months though their flexpath program. Other schools that are a popular option would be Grand Canyon University, Ohio University, and University of Texas at Arlington. Lastly, if you want to take BSN courses during the same time as you take ADN courses look into ASU's co-enrollment online RN- BSN program, but beware as they quoted me $23K which is a ridiculous amount of money for an online RN-BSN Program as the usual tuition for this kind of degree is under $10K at other universities. IMO it's best if you have your employer pay for your BSN through tuition reimbursement once you become an RN. I hope this gave you some guidance or clarity. Best wishes on your nursing journey!

Thanks was very helpful. Sounds like just doing a quick program after your ADN is the move like UTA and having your employer pay for it.

GWC does, in fact, have partnerships with other colleges for those interested in working towards their BSN while in school. CSUF and Grand Canyon University are the ones listed on GWC's website. Below is the flyer for CSUF and a link to their direct website on the matter:

Aside from having to pay out of pocket (which applies to all CSU RN-BSN collaborations), another bummer about Fullerton's Jump Start program is that you can only take one course each Summer.

Other CSUs, like CSUDM for example, allow you to truly get a "jumpstart" by taking 6 units each Summer for a total of 12 credits done before you even graduate your ADN program. Something that also sets CSUDM apart is that they offer payment plans and are one of the more affordable CSUs tuition wise. Aside from saving yourself a commute because their Summer courses are online, you also get to earn your BSN in less time-only 8months after graduation (or two semesters like Spring+Summer).

Here's the link for more info on CSUDM's Summer Fast Track program:

Getting ahead on your BSN and figuring out how to pay for it is obvi a personal decision. But if cost is the only issue, I'd suggest looking at part time work with tuition reimbursement. There are many hospitals who will help pay for your schooling in the hopes of keeping you afterwards due to the nursing shortage.

Best of Luck
