Congrats to all who made it to the Spring 2024 nursing program.
I am doing CNA training through Saddleback this Summer and got a job at a memory care facility as a resident assistant and they are going to train me as a med tech. So thankful to get into this program! ? I would love to hear about you all!
Hi Hopeful Nursing! Nice to virtually meet you. Sounds like you have a very good set up for experience before the program. All of the experience will help you in clinicals.
I am also starting in the Spring 2024 cohort. I am 28 years old and it's been a long journey to get to this part. I'm very excited to be at Golden West College! I've heard so many good reviews from my coworkers who are alumni.

Hi again HopefulNursing. Do you mind telling me more about your med tech position? I am working as a CNA on a telemetry floor right now, but I want to to switch to an easier job. Also, I have experience in working as a laboratory tech (IDK if that relates tho).
Hey everyone,
I was attending Rio Hondo College this most recent Summer, and had to withdraw for various reasons, but I was fortunate enough to get news that I was accepted into GWC this Spring of 2024.
First day is still several months away. What are you doing in the mean time? A counselor advised that I should take Pharmacology at GWC this fall. Anybody taking this course?

Hi @Celly09 I wish I had more info on the position. I will hopefully start the med tech position it two to three months but from what I understand, med techs dispense medication under the supervision of a RN. If be responsible for passing meds to the building. I've been told that you need to have a good understanding of medications.

Hi all,
Congrats to all who made it to the Spring 2024 nursing program. I thought I would start a new thread here so we can connect. I know some have created FB groups in the past so maybe that's a possibility. I'll introduce myself...
I'm a 40-year-old married mother of three who is starting out this new career path. I did volunteer hours at Hoag Hospital through COPE Health Scholars. Not sure if I want to be a bedside nurse but I need to gain experience wherever I am so I'm not too picky.
