Golden Living CNA Training in Fresno

Published

I love that Golden Living has free CNA training. There are not a whole lot of places in and around Fresno that offer CNA training, little alone Free training. The only drawback is that spots in the program get filled just about as soon as they are available. In order to even be considered there are a few hurdles to go through: first pick up an application at 9am on the designated date(only 60 are available), then come back and take their math test and if successful in completion an appointment for interview will given and 20 will be chosen. Golden Living does this every month. Last month I got there right at 9am and the applications were gone already. If anyone has any idea on how early the line starts, interview tips or any further info about this program I'm all ears :-)

Also Does anyone knows of any other CNA programs around Fresno besides FRESNO ADULT, CLOVIS ADULT, and GOLDEN LIVING?

Hi there! Since your post was a while ago I was wondering if you were selected at that time? I love Golden Living, I first found out about it at a job fair.

In 2010 I was selected into the program, only to be disqualified the next day because of my background check.

The interview process was great, the lady was nice and I understand it is still usually the same lady that holds the interviews. She is the instructor. She was very adament about her feelings towards piercings, differently colored hair, etc. She expressed that tattoos and such scare the residents and she is unlikely to choose such a candidate for the program.

Now it's 2012 and I have a interview June 5th. This program runs for 33 days, 6:45AM-2:00PM. I am very excited as I have obtained clearance from the Department of Health to join a CNA program. :)

I am also a student at FCC (been in the RN lottery twice and still waiting), and I have been granted transfer to Fresno State this fall. I'm so excited.

My plans are to become a CNA, then LVN which will help my chances in the FCC program. Then, after getting an ASN, transfer to State's BSN program because the odds I will get in will be significantly higher after already having an ASN.

Golden Living is a great facility with a free program and no prerequisites. Also, Workforce helps those who qualify purchase all their gear (white scrubs, undershirts, white leather shoes, watch with a second hand).

Golden Living drops down to 15 students after mid-term.

Goodluck future nurses!

YAY! I had my interview today and I was accepted!

When they hand out the 60 applications, you need to be in line BEFORE 8:00AM. I arrived at 7:50ish and I was number 55 in line!!!! By the time 9:00am rolled around there must have been 100 people waiting.

Out of the 60, maybe 55 show up to the exam. Of the 55, maybe 40-45 pass. You can miss 6 I believe. It's fairly easy. Basic english and math. Plenty of fractions and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa.

So, after the number of applicants dwindle down, you're like at a 50-50 chance! Not bad odds at all! Also, before your interview call Workforce to see if you qualify for help with purchases related to the program. My interview was today, the 5th and class starts the 8th! Yikes! I need an all white uniform, including shoes, as well as $32 for the book.

Not too shabby considering Fresno Adult School has two prereqs and costs hundreds of dollars!

Interview tips:

Just be yourself. Be confident and communicate concisely without shyness. Be assertive and explain your goals and the importance of becoming a CNA.

Goodluck! Golden Living ROCKS! I can't wait to start!

How do I get into Golden Living? Or How do I apply?
