Going PRN

Hey guys!!

So I’ve been a nurse a little over a year working my dream job! There are few things that I don’t like about my job.. starting with night shift.. I just cannot get passed working this shift and I desperately want to have a normal schedule. I’ve even gone as far as applying to other jobs but fear leaving because I love the work I do. I’ve been contemplating going PRN to improve my schedule and pick up primarily day shift needs. I understand the risks involved(like getting cancelled), but still have not take the initiative in asking my manager. How do I go about asking her? Most staff with that position have families, are in school, etc. Am I asking for too much by wanting to just improve my hours? Thanks!

Just ask her. She's under no obligation to give it to you, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
