I am going to school in the spring to take my prerequisites before I apply for the nursing program. I am confused though as what I need to do before I apply. The school I will be attending dates that I must obtain a
"State certification from the Kentucky board of nursing for state registered nurse aid (SRNA) licensure status (Medicaid nursing assistant course is required in order to take certificate exam)."
I have no idea what this means. I have contacted my tech school with no help whatsoever as they are not taking student appointments or even attempting to answer the phone. I have scoured the Internet to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any help on this. Does state certification mean to complete a cna course? Then must I complete a cna course at my school of choice as well as my prerequisites simultaneously or before hand?

It looks like they are stating that you need to have a CNA/SRNA license and take an approved CNA/SRNA course to even take the exam. I know some schools having become a CNA/SRNA is one of their requirements for getting into their RN program.
CNA courses are between 2-6 weeks long through various places, not sure where in KY as I live in IL. But you can do it simultaneously with your pre-reqs, I'm sure.
Thank you! I appreciate your help. I am researching cna classes now :)
