Hi guys!
I started attending a 4 year university right out of high school seeking my BSN. Well, life doesn't exactly always work out the way we want it to. So now, after not getting into the nursing program twice, I am graduating next spring with my Bachelors in Community Health Sciences with an emphasis in Public Health and a minor in Addiction Treatment Services. It's a great major but my true desire is to be a nurse.
I am planning to move to the Dallas, Texas area after I graduate because of the opportunities and many, many schools that offer either Bachelors -> BSN or Accelerated BSN programs (California and Nevada do not have many and that is where I am located now).
OR do I get my Associates degree in Nursing and start being able to work in the field? I don't know much about getting an ADN or how to go about it.
I guess my question is, how to I go about getting my BSN or ADN? Which is better? I want to work in a pediatric emergency room at the end of all this. I am expecting a cumulative GPA of 3.8(ish) when I graduate with my bachelors. I have taken the HESI once before and received an 88.5% cumulative, which I will obviously take again before applying to any Texas programs.
HELP! How do I get to my dream job as an RN and working in an amazing hospital?
Best,

Hi amzgirl, welcome to allnurses.
I can only offer the advice that in general, to maximize your chances at being hired as a new graduate anywhere, a BSN is definitely desirable.
I would add that your goal of working at a pediatric emergency room is a great one, but pediatrics is a highly competitive specialty these days. This is another reason it may be to your advantage to get your BSN sooner rather than later.
Your willingness to move to another city shows quite a bit of initiative that will serve you well going forward.
Best wishes!
