Hi everyone,

I have just found out that I will be going to COT in two weeks instead of next March. Exciting, but now I am freaking out and was wondering if there are any recommendations of things to bring, things to do before going, things to do while there....... anything that could help with transitioning. I know there was a thread with some recommendations of things to bring which is unbelievably helpful, I just thought maybe others might have some much needed advice to share with me. Also if anyone has info regarding PT. I thought I had more time to start getting fit and am worried that I will fail.....can you fail out of COT?? Thanks.

You can't fail out of COT because of the PT test... what happens is they do a pre-PT test, to give you an idea of what to work on... then in two weeks or so, you have the official PT test.

There's not really enough time to improve very much between the two, and if you fail, your gaining base will be the one to take action- mandatory fitness program, etc...

My base is cracking down on PT tests. If you fail it's a LOC (Letter of Counsel), and wearing service dress with your supervisor and reporting to the squadron commander.

So just keep working out and do your best. It's not worth the hassle to fail. You can do it! :)

i posted a note from COT 10-04 to COT 10-05 on here. Find it (really!).

I'm here at COT now. We just finished 3rd week. Arrive in comfortable clothes with athletic shoes. When you inprocess and do the urinalysis testing... get in line early!! Your class is 60 people more than our class and the line was so long, someone actually peed her pants waiting. It was a new form of torture. lol.

I wish you the best of luck and congrats on being bumped up!

Keep an open mind. Do not take anything the TI's (the training instructors in the Smokey the Bear hats) or the flight commanders yell in your direction as a personal attack - it's not. It's part of the environment.

Take it seriously but remember it's NOT the real Air Force that waits on the other side of the gate.

I did actually see your post and it was the most tremendous amount of help. I have a friend there with you now who I will be talking with this weekend who is going to also give me a heads up before I get there but every perspective is helpful so I was just hoping to maybe spark something up from others. Not as successful as I was hoping but still good info!!! People have warned me about the yelling so I hope I am prepared for it.

I think a lot of what you're looking for is in that old thread I wrote; a lot of us are taxed out on new stuff to add. I'll find that thread and post a link.
