I would like any pieces of advice that can be given to me. From doing all sorts of drips. Running codes it's hard to forget all that and focus on controlling symptoms and keeping one comfortable. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE MY NEW JOB!!!

remember why you changed job fields!

Finishing up almost a month I started, yes any nursing job will be stressful, we are taking care of the human life. Working hospice is a different kind of stress, love my decision.

Took the same course as you, except I work per diem for hospice. There is such a difference in feel from cardiac nursing to hospice, love it! Good luck with your new career choice!

I'm also going from cardiac to hospice. Ill be keeping cardiac PRN to keep up my skills and working hospice full time. It's definitely two totally different parts of nursing.

Specializes in Telemetry, Hospice.

same here, just went from telemetry to hospice, but then, i had always wanted to work hospice, and felt called to do so. for me, it is a relief to be working only on symptom management, and not cure. patients sometimes will still believe that miracles happen, and we would never take that hope from them. i am more focused on the patient, and not so much on my skills or med adm or efficiency or productivity. in hospice, we can take the time to serve and nurse.
