So I started this new travel assignment that I really like and they are already talking turning it into a permanent position. the contract says I have to be gone from the facility as a traveler for one year before I can accept a permanent position. The nursing recruitment office says technically the company doesn't need to know bc they do not go to them for any references or anything. If I do this is it something I could really get into trouble over?? Could my travel company take legal action or would it just ruin my relationship with them?

Yep, Yup & Yup. I would tread very carefully. HR is telling you that because they have nothing to do with the paper you signed with your company. They do not care if you get sued or get an injunction slapped on you.
Many wont do anything except **** and moan (depending on how many people they have working there) however there is one Agency inparticular that has there legal team "at the ready." You dont hear about it because the people cannot talk about it after it happens.
Do you happen to know what company that is? Also wouldnt my company only find out if i tell thrm? I was thinking maybe i would just keep extending so i am there for a while.
You should just extend for a while and see how things play out. Surely you are not the first traveler the hospital has tried to recruit. You also need to realize that once you go perm, things usually change (for the worse) real fast.. All of a sudden you are part of the team and dont get to use the "Im just a traveler" card.
The name of the company starts with an A, but I do not name names in the open. Also what kind of ghetto hospital would say "they dont need to know"? They are either very new or very stupid.. The company will find out--Trust Me
