GN, Question about accepting a job

Hi, new to the boards! Just wondering, i got a call from a hospital that is my second choice as far as where i want to work. Im scared to go to a interview and get a job offer when im still waiting to hear back from my first choice hospital. What is the most responsible thing to do in that case? I don't want to turn down a job offer, but i always want to make sure im keeping my options open.

Also, I have submitted my application online for my first choice hospital about 3 weeks ago. It keeps you updated on your application status online, do any of you recommend that i call or should i just be patient? Thanks to all help!
