I will be attending Glendale in January. I was wondering if anyone out there
is attending Glendale or has attended Glendale. If you could give me a little information about the teachers, the program, or the clinicals, I'd be most grateful. :) :)

Did you do your CNA at Glendale. I just got done doing mine there. We had one teacher that was really pretty strict, you could tell her main job was to "weed people out". She was very knowlegeable, don't get me wrong, just very strict. I assume there will be many like that within the program. I would LOVE to get the part time option. Seems most doable. People say not to cuz you don't get any vacation, but seems better to me!! Glendale will be my first choice. Boswell or PC my second. After that I don't think I will select any. I am not willing to drive to Tempe for nursing school. I just hate driving!!
I know my info is really not what you are looking for, but since no one else replied and you helped me I took a stab in the dark!LOL! Good Luck, you must be soooooo excited!!

No, I did my CNA through Central Arizona College because it was so difficult to get a class at MCC. I live in Mesa and attend MCC right now (patho) and I also took a few classes through RIO. For the most part, I think the Mesa instructors are great. I also had a HCC instructor at Boswell that taught Block 1 at Boswell. She was great, too. Glendale was my first choice because it is part-time (I need to work) and the Gateway part-time program wouldn't be open until next Fall. If you get a good lottery number, there is probably a good chance you will get a Glendale program in the Summer or Fall. Yes, you don't get much vacation, but it is only 2 days a week, so I think this is better for me. Do you know any of these instructors: Cullinan, Keil, or Bird? They will be my first Block teachers.

I went to GCC a couple of years ago before transfering to ASU for the nursing program. I had Cullinan for my patho class and she was great. At the time the class was a little overwhelming, but that's patho for you. We took plenty of notes and her tests weren't too bad. She is really nice and is extremely helpful. I'm sure she'll be a good Block I instructor to have. :)
Marnaby......
When you say you took Patho, what do you mean? I thought that patho was a seperate class, outside of the nursing "program". It must be since you can take it before applying. What gives???

Patho was a pre-req that I had to take at GCC before applying to the professional nursing program at ASU. Cullinan use to teach Patho back then. I'm not sure if she does it now. I think that the GCC program includes Patho in their actual nursing program and not in the pre-reqs. They may have changed that though.
Well, gee Marnaby... I guess I better figure this out!
It was my impression that there were co-reqs within the MCCD nursing program. I THOUGHT they were separate classes you took at the same time (in the same semesters) as your nursing curriculum. Guess I'll have to post again......
Thanks for your help!
One more question Marnaby.....
Did you put your immunization records in with your nursing app? It does not say to; I thought it may be assumed because we already have gone thru NA. What did you do?
Jeez, I must have read over this app a million times. I can't believe I am fretting now..Thanks!
Thanks for the info. It is reassuring to know that I'll have a good instructor :)

Maybe I can help with some of your questions. Patho is a prereq for the ASU program, it is a coreq for MCCD. You do not need to submit your immunization records with your nursing app, but when you are accepted into a program, you will be required to submit your immunizations to the school you will be attending. For example, I was accepted at Glendale and when I register for classes, I will have to bring my immunization records with me and have someone from the nursing dept verify them. Hope this helps! :)
