Giving report in LTC

Published

I am very curious on how everyone gives report. DO you all sit with the kardex and read off the names of course, age, diagnosis etc. etc. etc for each resident??? For our 60 residents, this takes us almost 45 minutes. Can someone please enlighten me to the purpose of all this. I would absolutely appreciate it.

We have a report sheet for each hall and we tape our report. We include med changes, blood sugars, who's on ABX, falls, skin tears, bruises etc, PRN's given, behavior issues. Usually it goes pretty quick. We don't give a detailed report on each person unless we know the oncoming nurse has been away for a while.
