I have been working on my unit for a year and a half, and I have recently decided to apply elsewhere. I chose not to tell my manager about this beforehand, since the last time someone did that, she was taken off the schedule before she even had her interview, even after asking the manager to not change anything yet. The nurse then did not get the job, had to ask the manager to put her back on the schedule and everyone knew she didn't get the other job.
I was hired by another employer and have since given my two weeks notice. My manager however has stopped to tell me how "unprofessional" it is to have given only two weeks notice and not four. Other nurses have resigned since I have been there and given only two weeks, and as far as I know nothing was said to them about this. Another nurse was also forced to resign by management and was only given two weeks to find another job, not four.
I know that two weeks is considered professional in other professions, is it the same for nursing, or should I have given four weeks notice?

Four weeks notice is becoming more the standard than two weeks, but in my opinion two weeks is considered professional. You might want to check with your HR department to see if 2 weeks notice will leave you in a "will rehire" status and a payout of vacation time and benefits.
Your manager sounds like a troll. Good luck with your new job.
