dear friends.

hi. i have a question that i hope you guys are able to help me. they ask us to write a reflection from our clinical observation and the question is that: from your observation what contributes to your development as a practitioner???

what i need to concentrate on? should i tell story? should i concentrate on mostly negative or positive part of my observation?

If you have a story that illustrates your point, present it but keep it brief. The focus is on the concept of improving your practice and what motivated that belief in you. At least, that is my interpretation

We had to keep a journal and make an entry after every clinical when I was in school. What did you see or experience the last time you were in clinicals that was something that was totally new to you? It might have been something you saw one of the staff nurses do or tell you about. It might have been a procedure you saw a doctor or another nurse talk about or do or did yourself. You might have heard about a patient in report who experienced a complication of a disease or procedure. There was something if you think back. There is always something. Then, you need to add your thoughts and feelings about it. What did you learn about it that you didn't know about it before when you checked in a textbook. Many times textbooks don't do these things justice. When you experience the "real" things, they aren't exactly the same as textbook descriptions or how your practiced in a lab. Your clinical experiences will always be different and unique from every other student and that is what your instructors are looking for. What amazing thing did you find out on your own at clinicals that rocked you. What story would you have taken back to report to your fellow students at the closing clinical conference? Put it in writing.
