Hi,
Quick question. A scope through the ileum (ileostomy actually) is a ileoscopy? And a rectal scope (no sigmoid) is a protoscopy? Are my terms correct?
Thanks

ileoscopy - Examination of the ileum with a scope. A colonoscopy may include examination of part of the ileum, depending upon patient's tolerance and doctor's skill.
ileostomy - Surgical formation of an opening of the ileum onto the surface of the abdomen. While this would certainly make it easier to scope the ileum, I doubt that anyone would agree to this procedure solely for this reason!
proctoscopy - Your definition is correct, however, this is the correct spelling.

Thanks for responding:) DH is having his ileostomy scoped next month to check for Crohn's inflammation and I just like to make sure I have the correct terms.
Thanks again!
