Hello everyone,
I am hoping some seasoned nursing students could help me out here.
I am currently enrolled at GGC and it is approaching that time for "the next step". I am a bit uncertain about how realistic my plan is right now.
This summer I am in A&P 1 and Human development. I'm fairly certain I will get A's in both.
This Fall I am taking:
A&P II, Micro, Digital Media and Chem II.
I plan on taking the TEAS two weeks after I finish A&P this summer (in August) so this will be without any of the fall classes taken.
I have a 4.0 cum/ 4.0 sGPA and all other pre-reqs are completed. My question is ... is this crazy? I do (and always have) worked from home full time and have two kids. My husband is pre-nursing as well so we have one hell of a tag team and study buddy system in our house. We started studying for the TEAS already as well. I know I can accomplish what I put my mind to and I am a no nonsense "just get it done" type of person, but even the strongest of us have limits. I just don't want to find that by the time I realize mine, it's too late ...
Thoughts?

As far as your fall semester, be very careful. Many people are going to say you're crazy to take AP2 and Micro together. I personally didn't have any issues with it, but I know many did. However, adding Chem2 to the mix is going to give you an extra struggle. It's not necessarily the material or content that will make you struggle, it will be the time commitment to truly learn the material. Most if not all of the micro classes are flipped classroom, and many of the AP2 classes are as well, and adding in Chem 2 will be a nice time suck. And of all the material you'll need for nursing/TEAS, micro and AP2 are the absolute most important and come back every single day in nursing classes. So it's really important that you're not just learning for the tests in those classes.
I'm going to PM you. I go to GGC right now and maybe I can help you out if we talk more.

How long was the A&P course in the Summer? Can you pick session a or b? Or is it all Summer long

Sorry I am just now seeing this. It was 7 weeks total, full session only and it was brutal! I took AP2 in 7 weeks as well and I just don't suggest that. Ayaya, gave me solid advice above and I wish I could PM her (hey Ayaya) and thank her.
I ended up taking Microbiology this Spring (dropping it last Summer when I was compounding it with AP) and I believe it was a good decision. I am now finishing my applications for Fall 2020/Spring 2021 entry. I wish you the best of luck.
GPA: 3.85
sGPA 3.4
TEAS: 97.1 (91/100/100/100)

WOW!, your TEAS scores are amazing! I am just starting to study for the TEAS. May I ask what exactly did you use to get the scores you have? And have you applied to the program yet?
Yup! I used the black and yellow ATI TEAS book and also used several (really all) TEAS apps. I would study in 15-30 min increments in between classes, breaks at work, etc. I would master every level and then some. I would read books as well and I believe that helped me with the punctuation for the English usage. I used free apps only so don’t feel like you need to pay for any. I also googled “TEAS practice questions” and would do any and all free quizzes I could find. I studied 6 months ahead of time. Not daily but just whenever I could so maybe every other day and then 30 days until the exam I started studying daily for maybe 60 min a day. The math is EASY if you were good in HS math! As is the reading. Focus on science and usage as those were the hardest to me, albeit my score.
Oh and if you live in Gwinnett and want my book (if you don’t have it). You can have it for free, just DM me.

That’s amazing! CONGRATS again! Which term are you planning to apply for? I am taking my TEAS soon and bought the yellow and black book before seeing your post! I which free apps and questions did you use online if you don’t mind sharing? Thanks and good luck!
