Getting validations from Casper

Anyone have information on getting their validations from the CMS Casper website? How long is it taking?

Is it just me, or is navigating to find the validations confusing? Maybe I'm just so stressed out that things seem to be worse than they really are!

we were told by our district people that it was down temporarily and to go ahead and transmit, but not to mark as accepted. i guess so assessments won't be late, but won't help with billing issues, they can't do anything until assessments marked as accepted pass over to their side.

we'll either have to make extra copies of assessments sent and put them somewhere not on our desks where they might get lost, like thumbtack them up. or find some other way to make sure we check back to see they were accepted. our desks are so covered with papers here, papers there that we have lost assessments, printed them again only to find they were stapled to another. lol. also, our printer is so slow, pauses so you think it is finished, that if two are printing at the same time, assessments come out in mixed order. kind of like our brains.

Once again we have a 'hold' on the processing of assessments by CMS. I have several that I am waiting for validation on, and their starting to 'stack up' in the office -- of course I don't want to do any filing on them until I get the validation stating they've been accepted. They just weren't ready for all this yet......kind of like us.

When I left work on Friday, the CMS site had the notice posted about the processing of assessments being 'on hold' --- does anyone know if that's still the case, or if it's back up and running?

Corporate quoted CMS as saying it will definitely be down until Monday, and in another part of the letter, it said, it will be down, "Until the situation is fixed." I have money on Nov. 15 being the date that they first say they won't be shutting down over a weekend. If they didn't increase their staffing, (and with hiring freezes how could they?) they are as overwhelmed as we are, and far less motivated to get it right.

Recieved NO validation reports today. Checked the folders right before leaving, hoping to have something there -- but it wasn't to be.

Has anyone been able to print validation reports yet? I have been able to submit but still cannot download any validation reports from Casper. Maybe I'm not going to the correct place? or are they not available yet?

You should be able to get onto CASPER to print your reports now; whether you'll want to see the results is the big question.

I got my first "real" set today, and out of something like 10 assessments submitted, like, 5 were accepted. We've been having software issues since the word go, and it seems our lovely Accucare system chooses to randomly not include the newly required sections (F, etc) when they're submitted...even when they show up during editing, and during pre-screening on CareWatch.

But, I digress. To get your FVs after submitting, log into CASPER, click reports, specify a date range (don't even try the submission ID, it's never worked for me!), and submit. The completed reports should pop up in your inbox when you click on the 'Folders' tab pretty much instantly. BUT! Wait at least 30 minutes to an hour after submitting, because it has taken forrrrevvvveeerrrr today.

Hope that helps-ish :)

What's working for me so far is to send a batch today and get the validation report tomorrow. I separate the Med A's from the OBRA's and get two validation reports. The software will print your list of names of the ones in each file, so it should be pretty easy to match the validation reports with the batch. Always use the date range. Also, you can create a folder that contains your validation reports in case you need to reprint one. It has been working best to wait 24 hours to check for vcalidation reports. I think I may do that permanently. I am usually pretty fried by the time I actually get the transmission done, that I don't want to see the validation report right then.

All my denials have come from autopopulation glitches in the software. Admissions is putting N/A instead of N in the medicaid number area and that has caused 5 rejections. Also got a rejection for putting that I updated a care plan, in the CAA, instead of writing a new one. (New admit, had been in facility before, and I liked the previous care plan.) That was my only Med A rejection. (Out of 34 total Med A's transmitted.)

talking with some other RNACs....some were having trouble getting validation reports from CASPER because they were entering the old facility ID and password instead of the MDS specific ID and password recently issued.

With the old facility ID it will not show you the folder VR....just a clarification.

got our first validation reports back and they were all accepted! (only sent 10)

took a long time and had to fiddle back and forth to see where i needed to go. tomorrow i'll send some more assessments and be sure to write down exactly where to go and what i put in. i started doing that today, but i went in and out of so many different places i got tired of stopping to write it down only to mark thru it.

it will get better. i'll either put the directions in my little computer notebook or on some index cards until it becomes old hat. i feel like a greenhorn. moooooo!:specs:
