Getting into OB nursing

My dream job is to work in OB or NICU. I am finding it difficult to find openings in OB and feel like I need OB experience in order to be considered for an OB position. I have my ASN and have been an RN for about a year. I have worked med/surg/telemetry at a rural hosptial and at a larger level 1 trauma center hospital. Any recommendations as to what I can do to help increase my chases of getting an OB position and what I should have on my resume to stand out.

If I'm reading this correctly, you've been an RN for a year and are already looking for your third job. This may be a factor. Managers don't like hiring job hoppers -- if you've already left one job and are thinking of leaving another in about a year, why would they believe that you're likely to stay longer than six months if they hire you? Right now, your resume stands out in a BAD way. What you want is for your resume to not stand out -- at least not in a bad way.

Try to stay at your current job for a minimum of one year -- two years is better. Then start looking for an OB job.
