Getting your 368? ATTN! NEW1LT and Others

Im curious how NEW1LT and those other folks that needed a 368 to go AD are doing? How did you approach the 368 and how is it coming along? Did you just submit it and forget it or are you checking in with someone periodically and if so how frequently? I guess the most important question is if they are being approved? Also curious how many years left you guys had left on your reserve contract and if that has anything to do with their decision making process for granting the release. Thanks for any tips

I'm follwing up as much as possible. I've asked my Commander to inquire into as much as he can, and the civilian staff at APMC is working it too. As far as the 90 day rule, there is an "understanding" at USAREC that the 368 may take awhile and the rule is overlooked. Bottom line, it can take months (up to 10 I've heard) and you can only bug so many people up the chain of command, and the General will sign it when they can.

As Krause said, you have to be persistent, but know your limits. It doesn't matter how long we've been in it just matters if we can pay back the Army what is owed to them, whether it be Reserves or Active. As long as our Commander recommended our release from AR, then there will be no reason it gets disapproved. Again, Krause and I have been told that our AA slot is being held pending our release. The sad thing is that people in other units apparently did not have as difficult time as we are. With that being said, it appears that ours is moving along.

Curious, why the questions?

Thanks for the replys. I know we owe the Army RC but seeing as how the AD and RC are not the same animals I was inquiring how the current climate is for folks in the same boat im in/hope to be in the future. Im also a TPU soldier 2LT and put in for AD this year but got OML. I really didnt have a good packet and it didnt make it to board till that last Friday at 1030. I think I will have a better packet next go and hopefully more prompt follow throughs with my recruiter. I plan to put in for USAGPAN or AD again next year. I also put in a 368 and submitted it to brigade but havent heard a thing. I was curious cause if I had been selected instead of OML It seems there woulda been no rushs for the chain to get my 368 done. I guess knowing how much pestering to do or how much others were doing would give me a good gauge for how much Ill check in with coc next year if I get picked up. Thanks

As far as owing time/money, the Reserves told me it's Reserve money I borrowed, therefore I owe the Reserves. A little deeper digging and I found out that's not the case. Regardless, one still needs to honor their commitment to the Reserves (drills, etc.) until officially released to AD.
