German nurse-qualification questions for work in US

Published

Hello,

I'm new here, so I'm still learning the whole forum thing. I just have a few questions and would really appreciate it if someone out there could point me in the right direction:

I completed my schooling as a pediatric nurse (Kinderkrankenschwester) in Germany, and have now over 10 years experience in working in an operating room.

I have worked in all surgical fields within the surgery room (thorax, visceral, vascular, trauma, ENT, etc...)

My American husband and I plan on moving to the US soon, and I have no idea whether my education will even be considered in the US.

Will I need additional schooling or qualifications?

Will I be able to find a job there?

I would appreciate all helpful info.

Thanks in advance!

You need to have a US license before you can be considered for a job. Suggest thar you start with having your credentials evaluated by CGFNS, using the CES application.

You will need hours in maternity, as well as mental health to be able to get permission to even sit for the NCLEX exam.

I would start with that.
