Hi there,
I'm very interested in the GEPN program at UHM & was looking for any advice.
I already have a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion/Community Health, but since I've been out of school for so long, I will need to take all of the prerequisites over (the beginning of another journey!). I plan to do so at KCC, so hopefully those will transfer over well.
During the application process, do they look at your overall GPA, just your GPA from the prereqs, or my combined GPA from both my previous school AND my "new" prereqs? What can I do to make my application stand out from the others?
I'm interested in either the APHN or FNP routes as I understand they are no longer combined into one program, correct? Has anyone graduated from these programs or is anyone currently in one of them who could provide any advice? Is there any way I could take the Nurse Practitioner route & still work in public health (a way to combine these in some way, I suppose, even though there is no formal program)?
I plan to stay in Hawaii, so was wondering what the job outlook is for either of these routes. If anyone can provide insight, advice, tips, information on these programs from my beginning point to after graduation, that would be so very helpful & much appreciated! It feels like a lot starting from scratch at this point in my life, but I'm looking forward to the journey & thank you in advance!
