Georgia State Perimeter College Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I just applied to GPC's nursing school for fall 2018 acceptance. Wondering who else has applied?

@HollyMac first of all, congrats!!! The first semester you will have fundamentals of nursing and it's 1 day a week of clinicals, psych nursing and it only has 2 or 3 days of clinicals, spread out. You will also have skills labs in the beginning that is 1 day a week. My clinical rotation wound up being a Sunday but you might be able to tell them you need the wknd to work. I used any day I wasn't in school to study, it's a lot of reading and content to get through. 2nd semester is 1 class with it's clinical daysand skills lab. I haven't worked but I'm a wife and mom of 3 kids btw 3-11. Other people work and make that work for them but there is the basic outline.

@HollyMac- whew! You asked a lot. And most of it varies on the type of person you are. I’ll answer from my experience only.

Yes, it is doable to work a FULL time job and attend (but remember that depends on the type of person you are and study strategies you have already developed) but part time is definitely doable.

Your work schedule needs to be flexible. The first two weeks of school are front loaded. So you basically have class everyday. Afterwards, it’s most likely 2x for classes (currently you take 2 classes during first semester) 1 day for skills lab, 1 day for clincals. Potentially you may have something to do 4 days out the week depending on your clinical schedule. Second semester isnt that busy as the first semester because it’s only 1 class.

Thank you so much! Y’all have really put my mind at ease! ?

Hello, Did anyone who applied here get the nurse packs from Meridy's for the Georgia Perimeter ASN? Was it worth it? Did they use everything? Could you assemble your own? Is it really important to have that exact kit? Do you want to sell your supplies? Appreciate any comments! TIA!

The schools makes you purchase. You will use everything in the kit throughout the entire program.

It’s required to purchase but you will use the supplies in it.
