Looking to relocate/New graduate positions in GA

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello all. I'm a May 2010 RN graduate. I currently live in Baltimore, Md and having a hard time gaining employment. My mother lives in Hampton, GA, which is in Henry county. She really wants me to move down there, but I'm worried I'll have the same problem down there. I know jobs are scarce everywhere, but I just wanted to know if any new grads down there are having a really hard time as well finding a job.

Thanks for your replies

I was told that new grad jobs all around Georgia are fierce. Sorry I couldn't be of better help. :sniff: Congrats on Graduating Nursing school. Did you apply for new grad positions around January? Or there are like NO jobs anywhere around Maryland? Have you tried Washington, DC or Virginia?

Thanks Faith for responding and the congratulations. I started applying in February. Jobs in Maryland are really tight too. I have looked throughout Maryland. I can't really go too far out because I have a daughter and I'm a single mother. So many hospitals are not even accepting new grad applications. I have applied to at least 12 hospitals in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I haven't even received one call for an interview. There are like 8 + people going for one position. I looked into long term care, but many of them do not take new grads. Lets see what else clinics, schools and rehabilitation. It is very frustrating to have worked so hard in school and not reap the benefits of it.

New grad positions are tight, especially in metro Atlanta, but some of the hospitals outside the city will hire new grads w/o a formal "residency" program. Try applying online to Henry Medical, near your mom. Also try hospitals in Macon, GA (Collesium Health System). That wouldn't be a terrible drive from Hampton. And I've heard that Grady Memorial in downtown is still hiring new grads.

Thanks so much notqueenb for the leads. I'm definitely going to call these places. Plus, my stepfather just told me he has a friend who is a manager at Grady memorial.
