KSU Nursing School

U.S.A. Georgia

I am trying to get into the KSU nursing program. I have heard accounts of students with high GPA and TEAS scores not getting in and you can imagine that this freaks me out. I have yet to take the TEAS, but will around October. I have a about a 3.8 GPA and these are the grades of the perquisites:

I got a B in Math requirement since I took precalc, a C in Microbiology lecture, an A in Microbiology lab, but I got A's in everything else (Chem 1151/1152 w/labs, anatomy 1 w/lab,statistics,english 1101/1102,sociology,psychology 1101). I still need to take Anatomy 2 and life span development.

In case ya'll need a refresher, the admissions take the best 5 math and science grades, cumulative GPA, and TEAS into consideration. There is no interview.

I contacted my adviser and she tells me that I shouldn't retake micro, but do ya'll think I should? Will this affect my chances? I just want to take Anatomy 2 this fall.

They combine the lecture and lab grades so you have a B for Micro as far as the nursing school sees. So even if you retake Micro lecture and make an A...they average the two lectures and its still a B. That's likely why advisement is saying don't retake. I think Fran said for the traditional its 4 As and 1B for those science/math prereqs and 3As and 2Bs for accelerated for averages of what is normally accepted to the program. So one B shouldn't make or break you. Hope this helps and good luck! I'm waiting to hear back for next semester :-)
