U.S.A. Georgia

:) Hey, I am enrolled to start taking my pre-requisites at CTC for ADN( associates degree in Nursing). I am worried that they are not accredited. I looked on the school website and could not find anything about the nursing part. I also looked them up on a state website and could not find their name. If anyone can help me with

this I would greatly appreciate it.:o

Questions 123. Have you heard anything?

Hello! First off the best way to describe the teas is that it is an exam that cover pretty much everything from prek to all of your pre reqs from college. Don't be scared bc it sounds a lot worse than it really is but I will say I'm glad I took geology and other science from my previous degree. There are 4-5 parts. I can't remember exactly but it is similar to the SAT. The best thing you can do is purchase as much study material and take the exam as many times as the school you're applying to will permit.

I was in the healthcare profession but due to a heavier school load I had to cut back. Does it help? Not now. It may once I start the program but for now it didn't really help me with my teas score or my acceptance. What matters the most are you pre req gradesand uour teas score.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate. I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks so much awarner16!

I have all A's in my prereq courses, except for Psychology 1101 and Sociology 1101 (I have B's in those two courses). I'm hoping I can score well on the TEAS so I can get in. I hope I am not bombarding you with too many questions, but how many students do they accept into the Spring program? & how long is the actual nursing program itself? Also, do you have any other advice to give for future candidates?

I appreciate all of your help and knowledge :)

The program length I'm not 100% sure of because right now its quarters and the school will be moving to semesters very soon. I'm sure its probably 3-4 semesters?

The only advice I can give is try to apply to as many schools as possible! Good luck!

To answer your question on the program length. It is approx 1.5 years. Starts Jan 2012 and End after spring semester in 2013!! Only reason I know is I have been talking to the nursing director about the semester conversion..

Now, I am also applying for the 2012 program and trying to finish up my pre req's now!! So hopefully I will see you girls in there!!

For the ones who have been accepted for 2011, Is it best to apply early or does that even matter? My worst fear is being put on a waiting list which I really hope isnt going to be done at this school! I know some schools have 2 years waiting lists!

Also, which do they look at more, high GPA's or high TEAS scores?

And finally, what science is mostly on the test? I'm thinking i should take one after this next quarter to really get the feel of the test and then take it again once I fully know what i'm doing but i dont want them to get turned off based on the first scores!!

Any advice is much appreciated!!

Thanks guys!!:D

No, Chattahoochee Technical School does NOT have an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing Program. I don't know why they are misleading people. They still have the degree posted on there site but Nursing programs (Associate, Bachelor, Masters Degrees) have their own accreditation board. Look at the other schools in your area that have Nursing programs and see what I mean. Then you can go to the 2 (there are only 2) accreditation websites and you will NOT find Chattahoochee Technical School listed as being accredited. One site listed them as a Candidate. You must be a graduate of a Georgia Board of Nursing approved school to sit for the RN licensure exam. Here is a link to Secretary of State RN school directory. This lists Chattahoochee in the initial stage of accreditation as of June 2011. http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/rn/RN%20School%20Directory.pdf

I guess they are working on it, which is good for them!!

The ADN Program at Chattahoochee Tech IS FULLY ACCREDITED UNTIL 2015: http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/rn/RN%20School%20Directory.pdf

I am taking prerequisites now and have had nothing but a great experience so far. I attended a huge university over 25 years ago and am returning for another degree and am impressed with the ease of scheduling, etc.

The chart you posted is in reference to the school being approved by the state BON, not accredited by the NLNAC. Two entirely different matters. Nursing programs have to have state approval in order to operate, but NLNAC (or CCNE) accreditation is an additional, voluntary process that shows the school meets a higher standard than the minimum required by the state.

According to the school's website, Chattahoochee Tech's ADN program is currently in the process of seeking NLNAC accreditation.
