GSU Fall 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

I was wondering if anyone else here was going to apply for GSU's nursing program (ACE or regular) for Fall 2012?

I am! As long as I finish up my pre-reqs in time (*crosses fingers* :p). My core education is basically done, I'm taking Micro, Math Modeling (again, to replace the crappy grade I got 4 years ago), Bio Lab 1, Nurs 2010, and Gen Psych. I still need Micro Lab, Anatomy 1 and 2, Bio 2, Abnormal Psych, and to take the TEAS. When are you planning on taking that, by the way? And I assume I'll be taking a few classes over the summer in order to meet this deadline... I wonder how that's going to affect my application.

As for program type, I'll be doing Trad. I work full-time, and there really isn't any way for me to get around that.

Overall, I'm excited, though!

I'm going to be enrolled in Math Modeling, Bio 2, Anatomy 1, Speech, and History. I still have some basic gen eds to complete after that, along with Anatomy 2.

I was thinking about taking the TEAS in September, for ACE. My plan is to apply for fall, and if I dont get in, retake my Bio 1 (I made a C, though at a more difficult college, I'm a transfer) and whatever else I need.

I feel worried that I wont be able to get in mostly.. but I would be very excited if I did!

I'm through with all my core from my other major, so I'm just hoping that I can still get accepted even though I'll still have a few classes to complete when I apply... thinking maybe applying for spring might ultimately be a better choice? Guess I need to make an appt with the academic advisor for the department! Have you spoken with her at all?

I think your C is definitely something to discuss in your application if you decide not to retake - however, GSU has a new policy that allows you to retake a course and completely replace the grade, eliminating it from your GPA. I'm doing that for Math Modeling. I took it 4 years ago and the professor was fired at the end of the semester - I had the second highest grade in the class with a C! Most people failed.

Crossing my fingers for you! It would be excellent to start in the fall. :-)

Unfortunately, I have been told by the advisor that the policy only applies to courses taken at GSU.

Oh, no! I'm sorry to hear that. GSU is the only school I've attended, so my advisor never made the distinction.

I am a transfer from Berry College, and as was your experience, a C in this Biology was one of the highest grades.

it sucks that it only applies to classes taken at GSU only...'cause i would love to retake my A&P II...got a C in lab

I maybe applying for the fall if I dont get into the spring

Good luck to you all!

I'm going to apply after I take the TEAS in mid spring (lots of math refreshing..). I figured I will have three semesters to try to get in haha

I am really nervous about it being a 3 year program if it is really intense.. I really need to be able to work 10ish hours a week and I'll be commuting from Acworth..

Keep in mind that you have to take the TEAS by the application deadline - March 1.

I work 25-30 hours a week in addition to school, so I'm also hoping that will still be doable. Also, I live in the city, but I don't have a car. I hope the program provides transportation for clinicals :/

Hi, I am actually putting my application together to apply for the ACE program. Nervous! Do you know what TEAS scores they are looking for by any chance? I know that the average is high, but I was just checking to see if anyone knows what the cutoff is...

Thanks...and good luck to everyone!

TEAS scores are up from Saturday! I improved by 5 points

91.3% adjusted - Reading 95.2, Math 96.7, Science 81.3, English/Language 93.3.

Hope everyone else is just as pleased :)
