Foreign Qualified Nurse

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I won the green card lottery and currently lives as a permanent resident in Georgia.

Before coming here I was a registered nurse in Sri Lanka.

How do I become a RN here in Georgia? Which of the exams should I do? (i.e. nclex, cgfns, toefl)

I know that people who come from outside do all the exams to satisfy their visa requirement, but do I have to do all three since I already have the permanent residency? Is nclex sufficient to practice here in GA?

Welcome to allnurses!

Your best bet is to check with the Georgia BON and find out directly from them what is required. Your nursing education in Sri Lanka (if that is where you went to school) would have to be equivalent to US nursing education in order for you to be eligible.

Best wishes --
