Georgetown Accelerated BSN hopefuls -- fall 2013

U.S.A. Washington DC

Hey -- anyone else applying to GU Fall of 2013? :)

I'm in as well!

I'm in too! But ProfessorT, I want to go there about 1/2 as much without you. :( You have to let me know as soon as you hear. I am rooting for you!

Oh, you're sweet. But, if I haven't heard by now, I didn't get in. From what I saw in the forum, everyone got their notification simultaneously, indicating a mass e-mail to those who were accepted. I have a really lousy early academic history that really gets in my way of moving onward. But, I am so thankful to have met you! I am deeply saddened that I won't get to work with you. I sure would have appreciated it if Georgetown would have notified rejected applicants tonight, too. It's a bit cruel not to, but I hold no grudge.

I'm really sad, also. I don't want to believe that you didn't get in. I do agree that it seems like a bit of an unnecessary blow not to send both emails simultaneously. After all, some people might not even read this forum, which means they're going to have to agonize through the weekend as well.

You might still get into Duke, am I right?

I got a rejection email from them yesterday evening. So maybe no news is good news for you.

Hello All:

I have been following this forum intently as I am also a fall applicant for the absn program. I received my acceptance email late last night. Now, the wait for the WHC scholarship announcement.

Professor T - Please do not lose heart. I think you are probably on the waiting list and should hear from admissions shortly. If I did my math correctly, there were about 70 students who were invited to the information sessions and they accept ~ 60 students for the fall semester out of these students.

It is a strong possiblity that 5-10 students have admits from other schools and may decline their offer of admission at GU. So, I strongly feel that you have a good chance of acceptance. I am rooting for you as well and praying that you get the acceptance email soon. Good luck.

I'm in! Congratulations to everyone and good luck to those awaiting news.

I did get a rejection on Friday. It dumped into my junk e-mail. I just discovered it this morning, but I knew because Georgetown has no waitlist, I was not accepted to Duke. I just found a good program at Johns Hopkins: the BS to MSN paid clinical residency, which has a much stronger emphasis on a teaching component for the Clinical Nurse Specialist field. That's a much better fit for my experience. It sticks out that I've had no medical experience for so long and that I have a very weak early academic history. Can't really change that. Plus, I'm just not 20 anymore, and I have to support myself and my mother. I can"t quit being a professor and spend my days volunteering (there's no time with my teaching load) or work as a CNA for $9 an hour. So, we'll try this, and if I don't get in, it's time to think of another career change to get out from under these stacks of papers and interact more with the world.

Knowing you got in takes the sting out of the news, as does knowing that the accepted cohort will make great nurses! I've never seen a more capable group.

I will check back to see if you get the WHC scholarship. I have a strong feeling that you will. I saw the way they looked at you, and your passion was quite evident.

Thanks to all for your support! Have a great journey at Georgetown!

If we don't hear about the scholarships some time today I might actually lose my mind... :wacky:

Although I feel the same way, I suspect it won't be until tomorrow or Thursday. If you look at when the notifications went out last year, it wasn't until nearly April 30th -- about a week after the acceptance notifications went out.

Well those who got accepted in spring 2012 heard back about WHC scholarships two days later according to the forum...so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we hear some news today. :wideyed:

Another day of waiting ahead...
