Student Malpractice Insurance?

Okay, I know it doesn't hurt to get it; but it doesn't hurt to get a lot of things. What I'd like to ask other nurses and nursing students is should I get it? Would you consider it to be an important investment?

It is very important that you get the . In fact, many nursing schools require it before you can participate in clinicals. It is very reasonably priced. I paid $20 for one year for $1 million of professional liability per incident, with a $6 million cap, through Nurses Service Organization.

Malpractice insurance definitely isn't a bad idea! Most schools already include it in your tuition or with nursing fees while others may require you to get your own. It may also be a good idea to have coverage both through your school and your own individual coverage. I am covered through my school but I plan on getting my own individual coverage soon, only because I have heard horror stories with student nurses facing lawsuits and even though they are covered through the school, their school didn't really provide any help. NSO (Nurse Service Organization) offers for nursing students for just $30 a YEAR.
