How do you recognize a nurse?

I'm not sure I understand your question. In what setting, just in public or ???

Can be any where.

What kind of trats does a good nurse have?

Well to tell you the truth, I'm not a nurse yet, but this is what I think a good nurse should have: When I was having my baby in July, my nurse was the best thing that could have happened for us. She was considerate of how I didn't want any drugs, she respected my feelings and didn't push anything on me. She smiled and was upbeat. Calm and very assured of herself. You could tell that she really enjoyed her job. She LOOKED at me when she was talking to me and she included my family in the whole process, with my permission of course.

Other nurses that I have encountered usuallly smile, look at you, calm, neatly "put-together". And you can usually tell if they are sure of themselves, thats a big one! I think that a nurse should show she is sure of her/him self if they want the patients respect.

I'm not sure this is what you were looking for, but I hope it helps.

jen :)

The one who actually answers my call light when I'm in pain, the one who has an easy smile even in times of stress, the one that really cares about his/her colleagues and patients and doesn't look at work as "just a job", and finally the one who remembers what it was like to be a new nurse and doesn't bite too hard!

That's what a nurse is to me:)
