Lovin' this nursing gig

Well, I just got done with my first clinical on Thursday and I must say, it was EXCELLENT!!! I come from a military/law enforcement background and I was not sure if I was cut out for nursing, but I have got to tell ya, I dig this gig. My pt even said, "we need more big guys like you in nursing" and after a little bit he started asking for me instead of the girl I was partnered up with. I felt kind of bad for her because she is really young and apparently doesnt know how to relax around pts and just treat them like people. Hopefully she will get over that. I just wanted to say that I am glad I made the decision the be a nurse. I think I will like it very much. Thank you all for all your advice and I assume I will need to tap into your experience sooner or later and I am glad to have a place like this to do it.

Bolt.

That is so encouraging to know you like it. It is nice to hear some positive comments. Good luck and keep your great attitude.

Isn't it great! Clinicals are the only thing keeping me going. I really hit the wall the last couple of weeks with exams on Tues, Thurs, Tues, psych clinical monday and Med/surg Wed. Before clinical today I was ready to throw in the towel. After today, dare I say I am ready to tough it out. I had 2 great patients that I really connected with, plus a 3rd that I picked up who gave me some really nice compliments to the chaplain, who told me what she said. Kinda makes it all worthwhile. Sigh...but alas, back to lectures tomorrow :uhoh3:
