I'm the only guy in my nursing class now...

I just found out through the grapevine that I'm the only guy left in my nursing class. We only started out with two, but the other guy dropped out because he failed clinicals and our dean of nursing apparently told him that if he couldn't make it through the clinical portion of nursing fundamentals then he couldn't cut it this next semester. Our dean is a retired army nurse by the way, so she's to the point. I feel bad for him because he was a nice guy and that's a lot of time spent in school for nothing. But if you can't cut it then you can't cut it I guess. Hopefully he'll try again eventually.

On the brighter side I'm the only guy left in my class, and my class will be the first graduating class from our university because this is the first year of our nursing program; it's a brand new program and we're the first class. Our university is 100 years old too and they're taking this nursing school very seriously because the closest nursing school aside from this new one is 45 minutes away, so a lot of people around here are glad we have it because a lot of people in my town have wanted a nursing program.

Anyway, thought I would share that story with you all. I wonder if it's going to be weird being the only guy from now on. Everyone will probably ride me about it now.. ;)

We started 3 or 4 males in our class of 40. They started dropping like flies, but they were younger males....we finished our first semester with one male, probably late 30's, and I have little doubt he'll make it!

Congrats to you and don't feel like the Lone Ranger!!
