Hey guys, I have to write a paper about an evidenced based practice article. I'm having trouble finding one. These articles are supposed to discuss studies that are researching a particular topic. :/

What I'm finding for articles are primary research articles, or general nursing articles that may mention a study briefly to make a point, but are not analytical of a bunch of studies.

Has anyone had to use an EBP article before? I'm just looking for a article on a general medsurg topic. If you know of an article, please let me know! I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

Do you have access to a database through your school?? That's what you need. You can set parameters to only get research articles and to get full text, etc. There are tons and tons of research articles out there. What you are saying is that you don't want a meta-analysis, correct? How many articles need to be primary research and how many general articles? Have you taken a nursing research course? That should have told you exactly how to do this, how to read and interpret a research report, etc.

Yes, I have a database.

And yes I've taken nursing research course. It focused on primary and secondary research articles. EBP focuses on a group of studies and draws conclusions based on those studies as a whole. Having a lot of trouble finding that.

The paper is soley about one article. So I just need this one resource.

I've been setting parameters for my article searches, but it is still a trial and error process. I can pretty much weed out the primary research articles, but all the rest seem to be general secondary research articles that focuses on discussing a topic with only brief mentions of studies that support their statements.

Ok so you just need an article about implementing an EBP then? Depending on which database you use there might be a box to check that says "evidence-based practice". If you don't see that box then I would try searching *just* CINAHL and you're more likely to find what you need. THE EBP article is probably NOT going to go in depth about the studies they used except possibly in the literature review. But even then its usually just a summary.

Thanks, I'll try that... maybe I was searching too many databases... CINAHL, Pre-CINAHL, MEDLINE, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition.

another good source for evidence based practise is medline they have many journals relating to different topics. I am doing my degree in research and this helped me. Also www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/EVIDENCE-BASED-HEALTH.html hope this helps.
